Conservation, Projects and Workshops

“If you can’t excite people about wildlife, how can you convince them to love and protect it?” — Steve Irwin

At Animal Cwtch, we believe conservation starts with connection. When people meet animals up close — seeing their patterns, hearing their stories, and learning about their habitats — they begin to care.

Our projects turn that spark of curiosity into lasting action for nature and wellbeing across South and West Wales.

The Heart of What We Do

Connecting people with nature – Encouraging curiosity, compassion, and care through real experiences with animals and wildlife.
Inspiring the next generation – Helping children and young people understand their role in protecting the planet through hands-on learning and creative workshops.
Supporting biodiversity – From wildflower planting to native species projects, we work to restore and protect local ecosystems.
Building community action – Empowering families, schools, and organisations to make small, achievable changes that have lasting impact.
Promoting wellbeing through nature – Using animal encounters and outdoor learning to support confidence, calm, and a sense of connection.

How to Get Involved

Volunteer with us – Help prepare enrichment, support our community and eco days, or lend a hand with conservation projects.
Partner with us – Schools, councils, and businesses can co-host planting days or sponsor local conservation projects.
Support through sponsorship – Corporate partners help fund our fieldwork, materials, and community workshops.
Join our community – Follow our updates and celebrate the small wins that make a big difference for nature.

What Our Conservation Work Includes

Wildflower Seed Project (2025) – In 2025, we shared wildflower seeds with families, schools and community groups to help pollinators across South and West Wales.
Harvest Mouse Project (coming soon) – Working with landowners, volunteers and pupils to support native harvest mice in safe, monitored habitats.
Wildfire Awareness & Prevention – Educational talks and demonstrations showing how small everyday actions can protect wildlife and reduce fire risks.
Eco & Community Days – Immersive, hands-on events that mix animal encounters with habitat building, eco-crafts, and sustainability workshops.
Local Hero Projects – Celebrating individuals and groups making a difference for nature — from school gardens to care-home bird-box builds.
Creative Conservation Workshops – Crafting bird feeders, bug houses, and recycled enrichment projects that combine learning, creativity, and fun.
Corporate & School Partnerships – Collaborating with businesses and educators to fund, host, and grow community conservation projects.

“Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It’s not.” — Dr. Seuss, The Lorax

Together for Wildlife

At Animal Cwtch, we believe real change starts small — with curiosity, care, and a community that wants to make a difference.

Every seed planted and every child inspired adds up.

Our conservation and education work continues thanks to the support of volunteers, schools, families, and local businesses who share our passion for protecting wildlife.

If you’d like to get involved — through volunteering, partnership, or sponsorship — we’d love to hear from you.
